Holden Scramble Golf Day 2016

On Tuesday, a large field of 120 players were greeted to glorious sunshine for the 2016 Holden Scramble sponsored by Col Crawford Holden and held at Cromer Golf Club.

Hosted by Carol Crawford with the support of Nicholas Hughes from our Holden Fleet Department, the day was a HUGE success.

After a delicious breakfast, players hit the course with hot scoring the order of the day!

In the Open event, it was an extremely tight finish with Patrick Walker, Gary Shimmins, Greg Arcus and Colin Hill edging out the team of Paul Sergeant, Alex Robson, Sandy Short and Phil Webster on a count back to qualify for the Regional Final with a score of 58.5!

Paul Anderson, Mark Taylor, Birol Setbas and Bradley Walker followed in 3rd place with a score of 58.75 (nett) but collected the best scratch prize with a gross score of 63!

In the Ladies field, Jane Johnson, Geraldine Barron, Judy Stephenson and Linda Hayes dominated the field with a winning score of 61.5.

The minor places were filled by Charron Messiter, Katrina Brown, Adele Brimmer and Carole Ireland (66.125) followed by Deb Stuart, Katherine Wang, Sylvia Pham and Veronica Gerold (66.25).

The Holden Scramble is a pro amateur club team’s event which is managed by the PGA of Australia. Since the event commenced in 1992, the Holden Scramble has become Australia’s largest and most successful pro-amateur team’s event.

GM Holden Ltd has been the major sponsor since its inception and is one of the longest running golf sponsorships in Australia.

Now entering its 25th season, and with over 950,000 players participating in over 10,000 events, the Holden Scramble has cemented its position in the history books. The Holden Scramble also runs in conjunction with the Women’s Holden Scramble, which has seen over 11,000 ladies tee up since its introduction and will be entering its 11th successful season this year.
