Another BIG Fundraising Effort from Team Col Crawford
Col Crawfords were proud to be amongst the top fundraisers for 20 Twenty Challenge Event, coming 5th place this year. One of our Teams, Team Crawford LG won the Classic division as they have done so for the past 3 years. A wonderful effort. This year’s surprise was the traditional ‘Team Crawford’ team standing aside for an ‘All Star Team’ to be entered in the Grand Prix division. We welcomed the professionals with James Jimmy Casey (an international SUP board surfer and racer & proudly sponsored by Col Crawford Suzuki), Iron Woman Emma Crawford-Parsons (Col’s granddaughter & Stephen’s niece), Triathlete Lana Casey (and also James’s sister) and friend, personal trainer and now Fireman Scottie Hardiman. Supported by Australian senior swim champion Nicolai Morris the ‘All Stars’ starred. First out of the 2 km swim leg by a hefty margin, neck and neck for the next 13 km walk with the 2 other leading teams it was always going to be tight. They continued through the 1.5 km first leg of kayaking, then the 7 km run and back to Chinamans Beach before the final return kayak leg and run along the beach for the finish.
Unfortunately there was a missed turn trough the tricky streets of Balmoral when the All Stars had taken the lead from the Silver Foxes and Team Lala which cost them 2 minutes. Team Lala left Chinamans a minute in front never to be caught whilst the All Stars left for the kayak with the Silver Foxs fighting for 2nd and 3rd. They hit Clontarf together, all 8, 2 per kayak for the 4 members of the Team Crawford All Stars to win the sprint to the beach. What an effort in the hot shot division and on their first attempt.
So well done all. Thank you to our supporters that helped us with our fund raising efforts. Congratulations to both teams for their stellar performances. Until next year ….
