Touch Down! The First BMW M6 GT3 has arrived in Australia

The BMW Group designs and produces some of the world’s best performance vehicles – it’s in their DNA and part of their brand’s performance heritage. The innovation and performance of the M range – including the sensational all-new M2 – are proof that M really is the most powerful letter in the world.

In December, BMW announced their intention to launch an assault on the prestigious Australian GT championship with our extraordinary M6 GT3, under the BMW Team SRM banner and in the capable hands of motorsport legend, Steve Richards.

It is with great excitement that we announce the first BMW M6 GT3 has touched down in Australia. BMW Team SRM has now officially taken delivery of the brand new twin-turbo V8-powered racing car that will lead BMW Group’s Australian motorsport campaign.

Steve Richards is very excited the vehicle has arrived and has commented that it is the most exciting new car delivery he’s ever been involved in! “These GT3 cars have the same technical innovations as modern road cars, so to have things like anti-lock braking and traction control, not to mention the aerodynamics – that makes them as exciting to drive as you can get. I just can’t wait to drive it.”

BMW’s partnership with Steve Richards Motorsports provides a unique customer racing programme with benchmark driving talent and expertise, full technical support and a comprehensive parts supply.

The initial response to this program from the general public has been sensational and again clearly confirms that BMW customers are ardent performance enthusiasts willing to invest in their passion – to the point where we have several enquiries from customers wanting to switch from other brands. Response from the media has also been outstanding, with many senior automotive journalists applauding BMW’s decision to return to the competitive track environment.

So BMW are all systems go with their new motorsport programme and we believe that welcoming the BMW M6 GT3 to the BMW family here in Australia is the perfect way to kick-start celebrations for BMW’s 100th year.
