US Sheriff’s are fans of our Aussie Exports

In the US, an examination of 15 different law enforcement vehicles, saw victory with Holden’s Australian-made and re-badged Chevrolet Caprice PPV (Police Patrol Vehicle) outperforming its rivals, Dodge and Ford, and earning a perfect score in a 32-lap track test.

The test also saw the Caprice go head-to-head with Ford’s new Taurus-based Interceptor, and score perfect 10’s in all categories including steering, body lean,  brake fade, brake pull and anti-lock brake performance. The brakes were the most impressive with the Caprice under stimulating an emergency stop from 60mph, and posting the shortest braking distance of the 15 vehicles tested.

The new Chevrolet Caprice police car is the right tool at the right time for law enforcement,” said Jim Campbell, general manager for GM Fleet and Commercial Operations.

This deal is a highly lucrative one for Holden, with the US law enforcement purchasing between 60,000 and 70,000 vehicles annually.
