All New Hyundai Sonata
The new Hyundai Sonata really is evolved driving. The sedan has been described as “uncompromisingly elegant yet fully appointed, built specifically to meet all your family’s needs”. Col Crawford Hyundai Sales Manager, Geoff Steele adds, “The new Sonata in one word? Unbelievable.” “It’s a completely new car, re-designed totally from the bottom up, and it is definitely a step in the right direction. The new Sonata is affordable luxury at its best, there is a lot of room, a lot of features, a lot of safety and great performance, especially in the V6, and all of this adds up to a very comfortable, very safe and very enjoyable vehicle, said Geoff.”

“In fact, we are anticipating that this Sonata will provide stiff competition for both Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore with more front head and leg room. Interior space is generous and the boot size is staggering at over 460 litres.”
It’s no denying that the new Sonata is a good looking car with European design flavour. Its aesthetics show design hints from cars like Audi A4, Subaru Liberty, and Honda Accord.
Comfort & luxury are two of the main selling points in this mid-sized sedan. Hyundai have take extra care in the addition of many features that are certain to add to the comfort levels of both drivers & passengers. For example the 6 speaker MP3 capable CD/FM/AM/cassette stereo is very practical and is upgraded to an in-dash 6-CD stacker for the Elite model. There is a handy shopping and hand bag hook in the front passenger well, preventing bag contents from falling out and rolling under seats out of reach. Adding to driver comfort is the steering wheel rake and reach functions as well as steering wheel controls for both stereo and cruise control. Each door armrest has been designed to fit a mobile phone. Attention has been paid to previous cabin noise & vibrations, so the new Sonata features upgraded thicker side glass, sound insulation and weather sealing strips to give you a much smoother and quieter ride to make driving the Sonata even more enjoyable.
The size of the new Sonata is what is going to shake up the medium to large sedan market. Enormous boot space means there is ample room to fit a number of golf bags, or a number of shopping bags. The back seats fold down to a 60:40 split, which increases the level of cargo options, but it is the cabin where most of the space is. This new Sonata is larger than the previous model in length, height and width. Hyundai even claims it is the widest car in the medium sedan segment and all of this adds to generous head and leg room in front and back.
There is no doubt that the new Sonata is stronger and safer than ever before. ABS brakes, and 6 airbags (dual frontal, dual front side and side curtain front & back) is standard on all models. Four-way Active Headrests on all models works to minimise whiplash in a crash and thus reduces potential head and neck injuries. Reverse parking sensors are included on the Elite model with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Traction Control System (TCS) standard on all V6 powered Sonata’s.
The Sonata complies to the highest standard of emission control, the Euro 4. The low emission levels (anticipated to become part of the amended Australian ADR standards) are not mandatory until 2008. This means that Sonata is 3 years ahead of Australian standards and already working to make the world a better place to live by caring for the environment.
The new Hyundai Sonata is available in two engine sizes 2.4L 4 cylinder and a 3.3L V6 and two model options, ranging from the Sonata 2.4 to the luxurious Hyundai Sonata Elite with pricing from $28,302 drive away.
“All in all, you are getting a much larger, better equipped car at the old Sonata price, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that, said Geoff!”
